Goth Reacts to Nimona

The whole backstory segment screams (among other things) that children are not born with hate, it is taught.

The most satisfying thing is that, in trying (and failing) to kill this film, Disney simply made it come out at a FAR more appropriate time. Cuz lord knows we needed this right now.

She turned into a phoenix to survive, and to make her wish at the beginning come true, and it's so beautiful 😭

When people like you show TRUE EMOTION and appreciation to a story they have loved for a long time, to me, it is not "ugly crying", to me, that's heartwarminly BEAUTIFUL. You are beautiful.

Fun Facts: They changed Goldenloin's design from the novel by looking at modeling pics of Eugene before hiring him for the role.
The novel's author got a small voice role as the commercial dragon, Kwispy.
There's a torn, vandalized background billboard that reads "Blue Sky never dies."
Around the 39 min mark in the movie, 22:51 in the reaction, the background has a Rainbow flag behind Ballister and a Trans flag behind Nimona.
Annapurna and DNEG finished the movie but put Blue Sky's crew in the credits under their very own section. With Nimona as a squirrel.
Aside: if you where anticipating the pain and in that shirt, a Cupcake would be a Mighty remedy. Perhaps more than one, maybe Nien. With a cup of tea.

I read the webcomic as a straight homophobic ignorant guy who knew nothing about trans people, but still enjoyed it, and watched the movie as a polyamorous lesbian.

I love this adaptation because it does its own thing while using concepts from the original
It really gives a different interpretation of the same story, with new ideas or giving more meaning to scenes from the original, like two sides of the same coin
I really think that's how people should do adaptations, because neither version is really superior to the other, so it's still interesting to read/watch both

I think that we can all agree on something. This movie is really good, and it made everyone cry.

As someone who had only HEARD of the source material but never checked it out, it's great seeing the perspective of a long time fan. I knew they were doing things a bit differently but I didn't know how people who were fans of the comic would feel about it. I'm glad to see an old fan having a ball watching this!

The table saw was spinning, but not with power. The sound FX team did really well with that shot. You can hear the motor die just before Nimona leaned on it.

I think the plot changes were probably in large part bc the original plot was a bit intricate and complicated for a 90ish minute movie

Apparently, Nate had considered including Nimona and Gloreth's past together in the comic but it never came to be... But now he finally got to show it in the movie... You said there that seeing Nimona and Gloreth's past was the part that finally broke you, but what were your thoughts when you finally got to see it and fill in that piece of lore?

I love the movie. I'm straight, 74, War Vet and more. Funny, for me I don't get a lot of queer feelings from the movie. Yes, there are two guys that love one another, but that is not the main focus of the movie. Anyone can find themselves an outcast for whatever reason. I'm sure that many of us have been there. If one does not tear for Nimona, go find yourself a heart........... SOOOOOOOOOOOOOON................
