    The dragons weren't necessarily afraid of what was beyond the wall-- the wall was constructed with ancient magic, something the dragons weren't able to ignore. Therefore, they weren't able to cross the wall. Dany and her dragons going over the wall in GoT should not have been possible, which is why it's so annoying that D&D just...disregarded that fact.

    • @ermannobellini

    Dragon fire is a combination of a liquid fuel and fire. This is why normally inflammable stuff like armor and stone castles burn. Sunfyre was injured and leaking this fuel when hit by Vhagar so he was combusted internally. Otherwise dragons are very fire resistant. The round and round dance maneuver between Vhagar and Meleys was to shield their riders from the dragonfire with their bodies.

But the modern dragons of Daenery are not like the same of oldest Dragons all Dragon in Daenery time is a fire proof since they had all the spirit of the Dragons protecting them in a fire, while not all Targaryen is not fire proof this is because spirit of the Dragons are choosing a future lord of the Dragons and Chosen one it's Daenery not Viserys even Viserys wants to be a King but the Spirit of the Dragons are not on him and he is not the Lord of the Dragons, he is also not having a connection to the Dragons it's all Daenery the Future of the Dragons, so Viserys are not fire proof he is only an ordinary Targaryen.

    I just realized, in S2 EP3 of HoD, in the scene where Rhaenerya and Allison were in the Sept, Allison was saying how Aegon was the prince that was promised when Rhaenerya said "...he spoke to you of the Song of Ice and Fire". But, in GoT when Samuel Tarly was training to be a maester the Grand Maester was writing a book about the wars following the death of King Robert but never found a good name for it. In the last episode of GoT , Sam gives Tryion the book and he said he called it a Song of Ice and Fire (which is basically the prophecy Aegon had). Dany’s eggs weren’t the ones shown in HotD. The director of that episode said they were, but the show runner denied it and in the book (made by the creator of the story…) it’s highly suggested they were born of Dreamfyre and taken to Essos by Elissa Farman.

    • @wurky76
      @wurky76 8 месяцев назад +21

      It would make a lot more sense for them to be born of Dreamfyre in the show too anyways since they all seem to resemble her more than Syrax, given that was her in the first season down in the keep scaring Aemond. (At least I think that was her lol)

    • @kat4t
      @kat4t 7 месяцев назад +7

      Exactly, especially because Elissa was queen Rhaena’s lover, and had access to Dreamfyre. When their affair ended, Elissa took the eggs as revenge. The only logical dragon the eggs would have come from is Dreamfyre. Now GRRM and HOTD are trying to backtrack on all of this and say that what was portrayed in HOTD is actually canon and Dany’s eggs are from Syrax. It makes zero sense and they are just trying to make more of a genetic lineage connection between Rhaenyra and Dany, even though it’s already there. Plus, all of Dany’s dragons look like Dreamfyre. Meanwhile, all of all of Syrax’s offspring (Vermax, Arrax, Stormcloud, and Tyraxes) look like her. At least Ryan Condal has spoken out and clarified that it’s absolutely NOT definitive that Dany’s eggs are Syrax’s and that HOTD is leaving this to be ambitious.

    The ending of Games of Thrones was so stupid. Two full series talking about the Targaryen prince that was promised and it ends up being Arya who kills the night king. SO STUPID !!

    • @tmwhite82
      @tmwhite82 7 месяцев назад +44

      Ha, disagree. The Night King spent thousands of years never being challenged by anyone. Current lore doesn't mention this at all. Then a lethal assassin, now wise to the ways of the White Walkers (due to almost dying from them), takes advantage of their enemy's distraction (who is fully focussed on their mortal enemy, finally within their grasp, and therefore not seriously focussed on or concerned for their own safety due to their arrogance, and thus pays the price), and then kills them, is a surprise to you? Why don't you just admit you're a chauvinist? As a guy I have zero issues with Arya killing the Night King. She was hugely skilled. He was arrogant and assumed he had won at that moment.

    • @Hollyh666
      @Hollyh666 7 месяцев назад +28

      @@tmwhite82lol it’s cool to see a guy actually call this out, there’s so much thinly veiled misogynistic weirdness in the GOT fans community. Like Arya killing the night king wasn’t the problem or why the long night felt so unsatisfying. It was a series long build up to a battle over in a single episode. A badly written battle that’s extremely unrealistic and ungrounded, even for a literal supernatural fantasy battle. If it was Jon that killed him the season would have still sucked and been lack luster. People shout about it like that’s somehow the worst part of the ending. Doesn’t even make my list. If anything, the writers inability to actually write women killed the final seasons. Ah yes Arya who grew up inspired by Visenya Targaryen and loved powerful women, meets Daenerys and it’s instant cat fight. Daenerys after all the growth and development as a conquerer and battle strategist, forgets about the iron fleet. Dany who could have conquered Mereen and the iron islands but instead set them up for independent rule, goes insane at the thought of the north being independent. Ellaria Sand, who in the books hates senseless revenge and would never do what the lannisters allowed, who loves her family above all kills an innocent girl. The girl her nephew loved. She commits the act the love of her life stood against with his whole soul. But sure, Arya killing the night king ruined the show 🙄

    • @SVTStrikesback
      @SVTStrikesback 7 месяцев назад

      @@tmwhite82you are completely off.
      Even if you want to say that Jon Snow did “save” the realm by killing Danny, that is NOT what the prophecy said at all.
      Now, even more through HOTD, it directly refers to the idea that winter is coming via the threat of the white walkers.
      So, to the poster’s point that you are responding to, he is correct. There was a prophecy that was directly related to a Targaryen who was to be the savior, and their story was a song of ice and fire.
      Danny does not fulfill that and Arya certainly doesn’t. No one gives a shit that a girl killed the night king. It was built up for eight years, there was a whole prophecy behind it, and it literally went no where. There are SEVERAL plot lines that were brought up and just forgotten. How many scenes where there about the voice that Varys heard in the fire? Where did that go? That’s what people are annoyed with.

    • @SVTStrikesback
      @SVTStrikesback 7 месяцев назад +25

      @@Hollyh666I’m going to disagree with you too.
      I don’t think the poster said or meant that Arya killing the night king ruined the show. But it was stupid.
      It drops the entire prophecy plot line. A lot of Arya’s journey was focused on her kill list, and that was also just dropped. Really? You’re going to deny her Cersei and let Cersei die in the dumbest most unsatisfying way possible?
      I like that the Hound stopped her from killing herself just so he could do the same, but a large part of the reason she decided to join the faceless men was for revenge. She even left the faceless men because she still wanted her identity and revenge on those that had wronged the Starks was part of that.
      There were a lot of things that crapped on the end of GOT, and the way the night king went out was just another one.

    • @1vafalcon
      @1vafalcon 7 месяцев назад +17

      So glad others also see this. Aria killing the night king was beautiful and unexpected BUT. If she had given the dager to Jon , throwing it at him. SO many different ways. Then yes Jon was the prince that was promised and killing the night king would have had a more belivale ending.

Rhaenys turned to meet the attack, despite the knowledge that Meleys had no hope of success against the two dragons. According to Archmaester Gyldayn, Meleys might have stood a chance against the older Vhagar alone, but not against Vhagar and Sunfyre combined. The dragons met violently in the air, a thousand feet above the field, with their fireballs bursting as bright as the sun. Meleys managed to close her jaw around Sunfyre's neck, just as Vhagar fell upon them, and all three dragons fell from the sky. Here are a few clarifications / corrections which may help:
    1) Not all the houses in the North worship the Old Gods - House Manderly of White Harbor worship the Seven, as they were originally from Dunstonbury in the Reach. As far as the houses south of the Neck, in addition to House Blackwood not worshipping the Seven , the people on the Iron Islands don't either (they worship the Drowned God.) Additionally, while most people in Dorne presumably worship the Seven, Dorne does host at least one Temple of R"hllor (the Lord of Light).
    2) Heat resistance may be something, like dragon dreams, that may be a trait of some Valyrians, but not all. It's strongly implied in Season 1 Episode 6 that Jacaerys may possess heat resistance while Lucerys does not.
    3). In addition to House Targaryen and House Velaryon surviving the Doom, there were a few other Valyrians of note who did as well:
    - Some dragonriders and their dragons who were in Lys and Tyrosh survived the Doom but were killed by the locals soon afterwards.
    - Aurion (family name unknown) was in Qohor during the Doom; he and his dragon disappeared after leading an expedition to the ruins of Valyria.
    - Jaehaelor Mataeryon and his she-dragon were also in Qohor during the Doom, but he was killed in Volantis soon after his dragon died.
    - House Celtigar of Claw Isle (Lord Bartimos Celtigar is one of Rhaenyra's advisors; the one she slapped across the face).
    - Additionally, House Baratheon and House Qoherys were houses of Valyrian descent, but they were raised up to the status of nobility during Aegon's Conquest.
    - It's strongly suggested that Valyrian blood (or DNA by our standards) is still represented among the nobility in Volantis, and in Lys both the nobility and a sizable number of the smallfolk have some as well.
    4). Daenerys's dragons were able to travel north of the Wall, but this was only after the Night King touched Bran Stark, so presumably the magic that prevented Vermithor and Silverwing from going north of the wall was no longer in effect.
    As far as questions I'd like to see answered, the primary one would be this: What prevented the Targaryens from hatching more dragons after the Dance up until Daenerys hatched hers? The only answer we get from George RR Martin is that Daenerys instinctively knew what needed to be done in order to hatch her dragons from the eggs, but we do know that there were many failed attempts by House Targaryen prior to that.

    • @jaclinecarter368
      @jaclinecarter368 7 месяцев назад +3

      I would love to have that same answer as well. I wonder if it had something to do with the Dragon Keepers either defecting from the Blacks for them bringing in bastard riders, and either being killed or defecting as well from Kings Landing after the assault on the Pits. Maybe they had the secrets to dragon survival and took them to their graves, and that's why no one knew how to keep the species going?

    I found a good theory the only reason Danny was “fireproof” was because the witch tricked her. The spell backtracked and helped the hatching of the eggs and also strengthened the blood magic of the targs in Danny so it made her fireproof. And her skin didn’t burn in the books but her hair did

    Viserys wasn't killed by fire, we to this day don't know if he's fireproof or not. Dany would die from molten gold too.

    On the first one, there's a reason there are entire chapters explaining the difference between fire and dragon fire, they're not the same.

    The wall is imbued with magic spells that don’t allow magical beings to cross it. Dany’s dragons shouldn’t have been able to fly over it, not because they were afraid, but because the wall wouldn’t allow it.

    According to the author of the books George R.R. Martin. The prince who was promised is daenerys. Yes, she’s a princess but we established in one episode of GOTs that the word they used didn’t have a gender so it meant prince or princess. Darn, I wanted it to be JON so badly. He was hands down my favourite character on that show. Tyrion & Arya are close seconds.

    The show has a theme with bloodlines, actually not just the show but the books subtly hint at it too. The evidence is fractured, so it's not at all clear how it works. One thing that is consistent is that mellisandre likes burning people with 'royal' blood or silence her opposition but that's besides the point. We are lead to believe she means people of the royal houses, mainly baratheon. But there is virtually no difference biologically speaking between a peasant and a king. The only major differences is power (in terms of influence & military), wealth and status. And you don't have to be a feudal ruler to own all 3. So that's unlikely to be the main factor.
    However if we go back to the doom of valyria it's hinted that the 14 flames (the volcanos of ancient valyria) were controlled by blood mages using blood magic, either through blood sacrifices or other means. I believe the valyrians discovered an ancient secret that involves blood magic that gave their bloodlines the ability to control and ride dragons and those 14 flames played a huge part in that ability, which lead to the doom of valyria.
    I think what melissandre means with there's power in 'royal blood' for example shireen, she means blood that has valyrian blood. Houses that have valyrian blood, the more valyrian blood you have the more powerful the blood magic when it gets sacrificed. Which may also explain why some valyrian bastards are able to ride dragons and some aren't because it depends on how many generations you are removed from the main valyrian houses (in this case the targaryens and valeryons). Which can be a good explaination why the targaryens marry among their kin to literally keep the bloodline "pure and powerful".
